Vacationing In San Mateo during Christmas

In the United States, December is one of the most traveled months of the year. According to a survey, millions of people hit the road during the holidays. While some travel to see their family and friends others are drawn to specific destinations. One of the best places to visit during the holidays is San Mateo County in California. This place offers a wide variety of activities and events to take part in.

The Elves and the Shoemaker- play

On December 19, College of San Mateo Theatre will be showcasing a play called The Elves and the Shoemaker. This CTC classic is adored by both adults and children across the world. The play will make you laugh and will certainly keep the children entertained. Tickets for the show are reasonably priced at $8.75 per person.

Nutcracker by The Peninsula Youth Ballet

The Peninsula Youth Ballet will perform the holiday favorite, the Nutcracker on December 1st, December 7th and December 8th. Ticket prices will vary from $45 to $75. Performances will be held at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. This classic is certainly a must watch.

Holiday Festival of Dance- 41st Anniversary

On 14th and 15th December more than five hundred dancers will come together for the “Holiday Festival of Dance.” This event is co-sponsored by San Mateo Dance Association and the San Mateo Parks & Recreation Department. The gym of San Mateo High School will be transformed into a theatrical production complete with music, lighting, choreography and costumes. This year is also the 41st Anniversary of this production. Hence, it’s going to be even bigger. Ticket price is in between $10 to $11.

Home for the Holidays

These are two family-friendly concerts that help the audience fit the joy of Christmas into the busy schedule. This program includes all time favorites such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas. There is also carol singing scrumptious buffet to indulge in between the two concerts. Ticket price is approximately $45.  

Ladies Night Holiday Party

An indulgent treat for all the moms, daughters, sisters, neighbors, girlfriends and co-workers! This holiday party brings together health, wellness and beauty professionals for fun, networking, learning, and getting spoiled.

Polar Express: Movie for kids

This whimsical holiday tale talks about a boy who wants to believe in Santa Clause even when all his friends have grown out of it. The movie lasts for about 99 minutes and is a lot of fun for kids. Children can watch it for free.

Tree Treasures

The History Museum will present a special program known as “Tree Treasures”. This will feature children’s crafts such as Christmas tree ornaments. Apart from this, during the afternoon, there will be a presentation of the Handbell Choir of the San Francisco State University who will sing some of the favorite holiday tunes. The entry to this event is free and people of all ages can attend it.

Christmukkahz Office Warming

December 19th is when Christmukkahz will begin, an event that will include photo booth fun, karaoke, yummy treats, and the like. This event is exceptionally fun for those who love to socialize.

Spending Christmas holidays in San Mateo County is nothing less than fun. From Christmas plays and carols to holiday parties, there is something for everybody. In fact, traveling in and around the county is also very convenient. The transportation system is well developed with extra shifts during the holidays.
